Ryan Reynolds’ Movie, Rated ‘1 out of 10’ by the Actor Himself, Surges to the Top on Netflix

Despite Ryan Reynolds giving one of his movies a less-than-glowing rating of ‘1 out of 10,’ it has found its way onto Netflix and is gaining popularity among viewers.

With a remarkable career that includes roles in films like Deadpool, The Hitman’s Bodyguard, and Red Notice, Reynolds, surprisingly, isn’t a fan of one of his most well-known roles. The movie has recently landed on Netflix and currently holds the fourth spot in the top-10 most-watched movies this week.

One viewer expressed on Twitter that the movie ‘wasn’t that bad.’ While not a resounding endorsement, it’s certainly a more positive take than Reynolds’ own assessment.

Released in 2011, Green Lantern is a superhero film based on the DC Comics character of the same name. According to Netflix, the movie follows test pilot Hal Jordan (played by Reynolds) as he harnesses newfound powers for good when he wears an otherworldly ring to help an intergalactic force stop a powerful threat.

Despite its recent success on Netflix, Green Lantern was one of the biggest box office flops, earning $220 million against a production budget of $200 million. Critically panned, it holds a 25 percent score on the review aggregator site Rotten Tomatoes, where critics describe it as “noisy, overproduced, and thinly-written, squandering an impressive budget and decades of comics mythology.”

During an appearance on Plead the Fifth, Reynolds was asked to rate Green Lantern out of 10, with one being the worst and 10 being the best. His response was candid: “I would give it a scant four… maybe. Three or four.” Then, unable to hold back, he exclaimed, “It’s a one!” Ouch.

Despite his low opinion of the film, Reynolds has no regrets about starring in Green Lantern, as it is where he met his now-wife, Blake Lively. In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, he stated, “Look, the movie obviously didn’t work, but it’s one of those things… No regrets, it was amazing. Met my future wife.” He shared an amusing anecdote about going on a double date with Lively while they were both single, noting, “And that was the most awkward date for our respective partners, because we were just like fireworks coming across.”
