Blake Lively Resumes Filming for “It Ends With Us” in Jersey City

Blake Lively’s film adaptation of “It Ends With Us” is set to recommence filming in Jersey City next week. The project, which began shooting in the Garden State last spring, is returning to New Jersey following the resolution of last year’s extensive writer and actor strikes that disrupted the entertainment industry.

As the industry gears up to resume production on several major projects, “It Ends With Us” is actively seeking extras, particularly children aged 8-12, to depict scenes at a Farmers Market, as indicated in a recent casting notice. Although the exact location in Jersey City was not specified, the production is set to commence shooting next week.

The film initially started shooting in Hoboken in May of the previous year and is an adaptation of Colleen Hoover’s 2016 New York Times Bestseller. The narrative follows Lily, a woman who relocates to a new city after graduating from college. There, she falls in love with a man named Ryle, but her newfound happiness takes a turn when her past resurfaces in the form of an ex-lover who disrupts her world.

Blake Lively, renowned for her roles in both film and television, including Gossip Girl, is cast as Lily. Co-starring alongside her is Justin Baldoni, best known for his work on the TV show Jane The Vιrgιn, alongside Brandon Sklenar from 1923 and Jenny Slate.

The written version of “It Ends With Us” achieved significant success, emerging as the top-selling print book in 2022 and staying on the New York Times Bestseller List for over 90 weeks.

Before the industry strikes, “It Ends With Us” was one of many film productions underway in Hudson County. Jersey City’s Hamilton Park hosted scenes for The Walking Deаd, while Hoboken and Paterson featured in Billy Crystal’s series “Winston,” and Hoboken, Bayonne, and Edison were settings for Vince Vaughn’s upcoming film “Nonnas.” With the resumption of filming, these projects contribute to the revival of Hudson County’s vibrant film industry.
