Blake Lively is making a triumphant return to the film industry, reprising her role in the adaptation of Colleen Hoover’s best-selling 2016 novel, “It Ends With Us.” After overcoming the Hollywood strikes and welcoming her fourth child, the 36-year-old Gossip Girl alumna is back on set, donning the frizzy red wig to embody her character, Lily Bloom.
The film, originally slated for a February 4 release, faced production delays due to the WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes. However, with the strikes now resolved, Lively was spotted in Jersey City, New Jersey, alongside co-star Justin Baldoni, who not only acts as Lily’s husband, Ryle Kincaid, but also directs the film.
Lively’s character sports a boho-inspired ensemble, featuring patchwork jeans and a floral jacket with vibrant yellow sleeves. The on-set images capture the actress in her element as she breathes life into Lily Bloom’s character.
“It Ends With Us” marks Blake Lively’s return to the big screen after a four-year hiatus, with her last project being “The Rhythm Section” in 2020. The film, shot in Hoboken, New Jersey, follows Lily’s journey as she relocates after college, opening a floral shop and falling in love with the affluent doctor Ryle. The plot takes a dark turn as Ryle becomes violent, and Lily’s past love, Atlas, reenters her life.
Colleen Hoover, the author of the novel, described “It Ends With Us” as her most challenging work, drawing inspiration from her parents’ relationship. The book gained immense popularity, selling over 1 million copies worldwide and being translated into 20 languages by 2019. Thanks to TikTok’s #BookTok community, the novel experienced a resurgence in late 2021, and as of 2022, it remained a top-selling print book for over 90 weeks on the New York Times Best Seller List.
Blake Lively’s return to the film is highly anticipated, and with Justin Baldoni at the helm, the project promises to bring Hoover’s poignant narrative to life on the big screen. While a release date is yet to be announced, fans are eagerly awaiting the cinematic adaptation of this compelling and emotionally charged story.
