Why Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds Opted to Skip the 2024 Golden Globes

Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds haven’t made a joint appearance at the Golden Globes since 2017, and their streak continues this year as they decided to sit out the first major award show of 2024. The couple was notably absent from the red carpet, and there’s a logical explanation for their no-show.

Neither Lively nor Reynolds is nominated for any projects at this year’s Golden Globes. Adding to this, recent photographs captured Lively filming scenes for “It Ends With Us” in Jersey City, New Jersey, literally placing her on the opposite side of the country from the red carpet festivities in Los Angeles.

Had they attended, the couple might have enjoyed a reunion with their friend Taylor Swift, who is present at the ceremony and nominated for the Cinematic and Box Office Achievement category for her Eras concert film.

Lively’s most recent media attention came from sharing a glimpse inside her New York City home on Instagram while recapping highlights from 2023. She humorously captioned the image, “2023 Memories: Only @michaelkors could get me to squeeze into gold sequins way too soon after ha

ving a baby. Love you MK✨🪩 ✨ (and yes I low key moonlight as an interior designer but please don’t tell bc I definitely don’t want the world to know that I have a hidden talent which I require external validation on).”

Reynolds, on the other hand, took to Instagram to share some couple shots as part of his year-end recap. In one post, he expressed gratitude for the first part of 2023, noting, “Thank you 2023 part 1. In no real order. I got to spend most of the year working and playing with the people I ❤️❤️.”

In a subsequent post, he captioned his second part of 2023: “2023 part deux.”

While the power couple opted for a quieter Golden Globes this year, their absence was marked by the continued success and personal highlights each experienced in the preceding year, as shared on their respective social media platforms.
