America Ferrera Shares Heartwarming FaceTime Moment with Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants Co-Stars Following Oscar Nomination

Barbie star America Ferrera experienced a mix of emotions on Tuesday, January 23, as she woke up to the news of her first-ever Oscar nomination. To make the moment even more special, Ferrera received an immediate FaceTime call from her close friends and Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants co-stars – Blake Lively, Alexis Bledel, and Amber Tamblyn.

“They FaceTimed me as a group right away,” shared America, reflecting on the moments following the announcement. “It was hilarious, funny, and emotional. It’s wonderful to be celebrated and held up by my sisters.”

The camaraderie among the four actresses, who formed a strong bond during the making of the 2005 film based on the 2001 book, has endured for almost two decades. Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants tells a coming-of-age story about a group of friends who share a unique connection through a pair of jeans that magically fits them all. Despite spending their first summer apart, they stay connected by sending the jeans to each other.

Speaking to Variety, America expressed her gratitude for the enduring support from her friends: “These wоme𝚗, who I’ve had the honor of growing up within this industry, have loved, cheered on, and supported me. We all do that for each other. They’re amazing and such a gift in my life.”

America Ferrera, a mother of two, received a Best Supporting Actress nomination for her role as Gloria in the Greta Gerwig-directed film. The nomination came as a delightful surprise, with Ferrera competing against Emily Blunt, Danielle Brooks, Jodie Foster, and Da’Vine Joy Randolph.

While some notable figures like Margot Robbie missed out on a Best Actress nomination for her role in Barbie, and Greta Gerwig did not secure a Best Director spot, Lily Gladstone, DiCaprio’s co-star in Killers of the Flower Moon, received a nod for Best Actress, marking her as the first Native American nominee in the organization’s history.

America Ferrera, along with Blake, Alexis, and Amber, previously gathered in December to celebrate Ferrera’s achievements and the success of Barbie. The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants stars showcased their close bond by donning pink attire at the event, capturing the special friendship that has endured for nearly two decades.
