America Ferrera’s Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants Co-Stars FaceTimed Her After Her Oscar Nomination

It’s been almost two decades since The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants film adaptation graced theaters, but the camaraderie among the central quartet — America Ferrera, Blake Lively, Amber Tamblyn, and Alexis Bledel — remains as strong as ever. The close-knit group, mirroring their on-screen counterparts, consistently supports one another, exemplified by their recent FaceTime celebration in honor of Ferrera’s inaugural Oscar nomination.

Following the announcement of the nominations, Ferrera’s former co-stars promptly FaceTimed her. The actress secured her first nod for Best Supporting Actress for her role in Barbie. Ferrera shared the heartwarming moment with Variety, stating, “They FaceTimed me as a group right away. It’s wonderful to be celebrated and held up by these women who I’ve had the honor of growing up with in the industry.” She posted a screenshot of the group call on her Instagram Stories, capturing the genuine thrill on each member’s face. Ferrera, still in bed, added a touch of adorableness to the scene.

While the Sisterhood stars manage their individual careers and families, they consistently find time to uplift one another. In late 2023, they reunited in New York City to attend a special Barbie screening. Lively expressed her joy on Instagram, writing, “I was so happy to celebrate my denim sister @americaferrera. She’s the heart and soul of @barbiethemovie because she’s the heart and soul of everything she’s a part of. I’ve known her for 20 years. Since I was 16. I’ve watched her live, grow, soar, fall, make, break, push, fight, win, create, forge, disrupt, way make, lead, lead, lead. That speech she gives as Gloria felt as close to real as anything I’ve ever seen on screen. Because that’s who she is. She’s that spectacular, passionate, inspiring and full of heart in her own life.”

While the prospect of a third movie remains uncertain, the group has expressed interest, envisioning it centering on Carmen, Tibby, Bridget, and Lena as adults. (The second movie was released in 2008.) As fans hope for another installment, fingers are crossed that the sisters will be present at the Academy Awards to cheer on America Ferrera.
