Actors Who Almost Got Blake Lively’s Role in ‘Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants’
Olivia Wilde was also considered for Blake Lively’s role in ‘Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants’
The casting process for the 2005 film ‘Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants’ involved considering multiple actors for Blake Lively’s role as Bridget Vreeland. Debra Martin Chase, the producer of the film, revealed on the February 7 episode of the Hollywood Gold podcast that they initially considered casting Mischa Barton in the role eventually played by Lively. Additionally, Kristin Kreuk from ‘Smallville’ was also in contention to play Alexis Bledel’s character, Lena Kaligaris.
However, scheduling conflicts arose, particularly due to Mischa Barton’s commitments to ‘The O.C.’ series, which aired from 2003 to 2007. The delay in shooting ‘Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants’ because of Hilary Duff’s film ‘A Cinderella Story’ necessitated the recasting of many roles.
Debra Martin Chase mentioned that they restarted the casting process, considering actresses like Kaley Cuoco and Alexa PenaVega, with Olivia Wilde being on the shortlist.
After an extensive search for an actress with the right blend of innocence and talent, the field narrowed down to three final candidates: Olivia Wilde, Missy Peregrym, and Blake Lively. Ultimately, it was Blake Lively who secured the role of Bridget Vreeland after the final audition.
