During a show in Sydney, Australia, Travis Scott had The Weeknd as a special guest. He thanked the singer for giving him some chances in the past.
Scott reminded the crowd that Abel had brought the Houston rapper along as an opener for the Madness Fall Tour in 2015, which he called his “first arena tour ever.” That tour took place in November and December of that year and had Banks and Halsey as support acts. Scott started every show.
Scott told the crowd in Sydney on Friday (October 18) about those times as he introduced The Weeknd.
He said, “This man let me open for two tours when my first album came out.” “He took me on my first arena tour ever.” I probably wouldn’t be on this stage right now if it weren’t for this guy. This year, Travis and Abel worked together at Mike Dean’s birthday show in Los Angeles.
On March 1, Dean put on a show at the Wilton Theater just for his birthday. There, the director and the singer of “I Can’t Feel My Face” put out a cover of “In Heaven (Lady in the Radiator Song),” a song by David Lynch and Peter Ivers from Lynch’s movie Eraserhead.
The Weeknd also played “Take Me Back To LA,” a song that was first played in 2020 and is a fan favorite. It has not yet been released officially.
Travis Scott sang “Fe!n” and then joined forces with Mike Dean and The Weeknd for “Circus Maximus.”Around that time, Dean talked to Our Generation about what it was like to play shows with The Weeknd.
He said, “I opened for him on his U.S. tour last summer.” “That happened during a livestream.” Abel watched my Instagram feed while I did a little thing. During the video, he texted me, “You should just open for me.”
His words went on, “I get to go out, have a budget, get production, and make stuff look cool.”
In April 2023, The Weeknd worked with Mike Dean on four new songs that were on Dean’s album 4:23.
