Travis Scott settles almost 100 Astroworld Festival lawsuits

Travis Scott and Live Nation are still not out of the woods for what they did in the ASTROWORLD tragedy. There are fans who seem to have forgotten about it, and fans who are still stuck on it. Ten concertgoers died in a terrible accident in Houston in November 2021. The families of those people who died then sued the famous rapper for wrongful death. As of late May of this year, they were all set up.

For nine-year-old Ezra Blount, the case came to a close as the last victim. This lawsuit’s trial was meant to happen in September, but both sides were able to agree on a date months ahead of time. But it wasn’t just lawsuits for wrongful death. Hundreds of injury claims were also made against Travis Scott and Live Nation, the company that put on the show. The first day of the trial for two bellwether claimants, Angel Dominguez and Elizabeth Martinez, was today, October 22.

However, The Dallas Morning News (via XXL) says that Live Nation is ahead of plan. They settled both Dominguez and Martinez’s cases yesterday, October 21. That’s 100 plaintiffs. Henry Nguyen has a third one on the way, but his hearing is being moved up right now. Dominguez and Martinez’s cases were called “bellwether” because of this and the large number of claims that were still open. This basically means that they were “practice runs” to get ready for what Live Nation and Scott can expect to be a tough few months from now on.
