Drake is almost 40, but not quite. The Toronto rapper had what you might call a bold message for anyone who wasn’t sure if he would stay strong after what many saw as a loss in his long-running beef, rivalry, or whatever it is now with Kendrick Lamar.
Drake, whose real name is Aubrey Graham, posted a picture of himself and his mother, Sandra Graham, carrying stacks of cash on October 24. He didn’t mean to offend anyone. He wrote clearly in the caption, “They thought I was dead, but that was just their imagination.” one more year on dem,” making it clear that he’s not done with people who didn’t think he would win.
The rapper from “Started From the Bottom” has been having problems lately, especially with his “20 vs. 1” fight with Kendrick, Metro Boomin, Rick Ross, and others. However, Sexyy Red is one artist who has stuck by Drake. As a birthday gift, she wrote on social media that Drake was “one of the nicest most humblest people I know [heart hands emojis] LOVE U BD ENJOY YO MONTH [red tear drop emoji] [confetti emoji].” Her post had a bunch of pictures of them getting closer as friends. One showed him holding her pregnant belly, and another showed him kissing her on the cheek.
As you might expect, Drake had a big party for his 38th birthday on October 23 in Houston, Texas. Video from the night shows him having drinks with his parents, Dennis and Sandra Graham, and being surprised with a huge cake that says “1986” to honor his birth year. Later, a video showed Drake at a strip club in Houston, where he allegedly spent more than $50,000.
Drake did what Drake always does on his birthday: he gave back by giving away free food at Dave’s Hot Chicken, a restaurant he co-owns. The deal was good at all sites, and it was the third year in a row that Drake and the chain worked together to give away free chicken on his birthday.
Bill Phelps, CEO of Dave’s Hot Chicken, said, “We love that Drake has chosen to spend his birthday with Dave’s guests.” He also said, “As this brand grows from coast to coast and around the world, it’s the founders, team members, and investors like Drake who will make sure we keep blowing people away.”
